**TL;DR:** We sell and install **Goodyear tires**, repair flats, rotate, balance and align, and service **TPMS**. You get a **written estimate** before work and photos of what we find.

Goodyear Elite Tire Upland is a tire and auto repair shop at 1775 W Foothill Blvd that also rents U-Haul trucks and trailers. On the tire side we fit new tires, repair punctures that are safe to repair, rotate and balance, align wheels with a printout, and fix TPMS warnings. You see the number in writing before we start.

## What tire services does the shop offer?

We handle the full tire job at one address: choosing the right tire, mounting and balancing it, checking the pressure sensors, torquing the lugs, and aligning the car so the new rubber wears evenly. Flats, valve stems, spares and wheel locks are handled here too, so one visit usually covers it.

Here is how the tire work is grouped on this site:

- **Buying tires:** [new tires and brands](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/tires/new-tires-brands/), size and load matching, and [same-day mounting](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/tires/same-day-tire-mounting/) when your size is in stock.
- **Fitting tires:** [tire installation](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/tires/tire-installation/), balancing, [road force balancing](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/tires/road-force-balancing/), valve stems, lug nuts and custom wheels.
- **Keeping tires healthy:** rotation, pressure checks, TPMS service and [wheel alignment](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/tires/wheel-alignment/).
- **Fixing problems:** flat repair, patch versus replace decisions, wear pattern diagnosis and warranty inspections.

If you are not sure which of these you need, describe what the car is doing. A pull, a shake, a light on the dash or a nail in the tread each point to a different starting place, and we start there instead of selling a package.

## How do you know it is time for new tires?

Replace a tire when the tread is worn low, the rubber is old or cracked, the sidewall is damaged, or the tire wears in a way that cannot be corrected. Tread depth is one test, not the only one. Age, bulges, cords showing and repeated slow leaks all count, even on a tire that still looks deep.

### Tread depth

Tread is measured in 32nds of an inch, and a new passenger tire commonly starts around 10/32 to 11/32. Wear bars are molded into every tire at 2/32, and NHTSA advises replacing a tire once it reaches that depth. California Vehicle Code 27465 sets the legal floor lower still, at 1/32 inch in any two adjacent grooves, so a tire can be street legal and already be past the point where it works in rain. Wet grip falls off well before 2/32, which is why 4/32 is the useful planning number before the first storm of the season. We gauge each tire at several points and write the numbers down.

### Age and condition

Rubber ages even when a tire sits in a garage or on a spare carrier. The last four digits of the DOT code on the sidewall give the week and the year it was built, so 3223 means the 32nd week of 2023. Many vehicle makers advise replacing tires about 6 years from that date, and most tire makers set 10 years as the outside limit whatever the tread looks like. Our [tire date code guide](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/tires/tire-date-code-guide/) walks through how to read it. Heat speeds up cracking, so a tire on a car that lives outside through an Inland Empire summer can age faster than the tread suggests.

### Damage you can see

- Bulges or bubbles on the sidewall
- Cuts deep enough to show fabric or steel
- Cracks between the tread blocks or along the sidewall
- A puncture in the shoulder or sidewall, which is not repairable

NHTSA's [tire safety page](https://www.nhtsa.gov/equipment/tires) covers more on tire care and safety.

## What happens when you bring the car in for tires?

A tire visit follows the same order every time: we listen to what you noticed, look at all four tires and the spare if you ask, photograph anything worth showing, write the estimate, and wait for your approval. Only then does the car go on the lift. When the work is done, we check the job and walk you through it.

1. **Tell us the concern in your words.** "It pulls right" or "the light came on this morning" is enough.
2. **Inspection.** Tread depth in 32nds at three points across each tire, cold pressure against the doorjamb placard, date codes, wear pattern, valve stems and visible damage.
3. **Photos and a written estimate.** Parts, labor and state tire fees on separate lines, with safety items marked apart from items that can wait.
4. **Your approval.** Nothing extra gets added without asking you first.
5. **The work.** Mount, balance, sensor check, torque, and alignment if you approved it.
6. **Check and walkthrough.** We confirm pressures and torque, and a road check on jobs that call for one, then show you what was done. The invoice matches the approved estimate.

Booking is a request. Send one online and we call or text to confirm a time. You can also call (909) 608-7699.

## Which tire brands can you get?

The shop is built around Goodyear, so the Goodyear lineup is where most conversations start. Assurance tires suit many commuter sedans and crossovers, Wrangler tires cover pickups and SUVs, and Eagle tires lean toward performance. When a different brand fits your size, budget or use better, we say so and show you the options.

Brand matters less than fit. A good tire in the wrong load index or speed rating is still the wrong tire. We read the placard on your driver door jamb and the sizes on your current tires, then match:

- **Size:** in a marking like 225/65R17, the 225 is section width in millimeters, the 65 is sidewall height as a percent of that width, and the 17 is rim diameter in inches.
- **Load index:** the number after the size, which maps to how much weight one tire is rated to carry.
- **Speed rating:** the letter after the load index, which is the speed the tire is built to sustain.
- **Use:** highway commuting, towing, light off-road, or an EV that adds weight and torque

Stock changes, so we do not promise a size is on the shelf until we check. Call with your tire size or send a [quote request](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/contact/request-a-quote/) and we confirm what we can get and when.

## What is the difference between rotation, balancing and alignment?

These three get mixed up because they often happen in the same visit, but they fix different things. Rotation moves tires to new positions so they wear together. Balancing adds small weights so a wheel spins without shaking. Alignment adjusts the suspension angles so the tires point where they should.

| Service | What it fixes | What you feel if it is off |
|---|---|---|
| Rotation | Uneven wear between front and rear | Tires wearing out in pairs, noise over time |
| Balancing | Weight uneven around the wheel, corrected with weights in quarter-ounce steps | Vibration in the wheel or seat, often at highway speed |
| Alignment | Wheel angles out of spec | Pull, crooked steering wheel, inner or outer edge wear |

A vibration is usually a balance question first. A pull or a crooked steering wheel is usually an alignment question. Worn edges on one side point to alignment, while scalloped patches can point to worn shocks. Our [tire wear patterns guide](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/tires/tire-wear-patterns/) has photos-in-words of each one.

## Which tire problems need attention now and which can wait?

Anything that affects grip, holding air or the wheel staying attached needs attention now. Wear that is even but getting close, a slightly off-center steering wheel, or a sensor that reads a bit low can usually be scheduled. We mark each item on the estimate as a need or a want so you can decide with the facts in front of you.

### Deal with it before you drive far

- Cords, bulges or a sidewall cut
- Tread at or near the legal minimum
- A TPMS light, which by federal rule has to come on once a tire is 25 percent or more below the placard pressure
- Loose lug nuts, clicking from a wheel, or a wheel that was just installed and now shakes

### Usually fine to plan for

- Even wear with 4/32 inch or more of tread left
- A rotation past the 5,000 to 8,000 mile window most manufacturers publish
- A slight drift on a crowned road
- A spare that needs air or has aged out

Our [need versus want promise](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/why-choose-us/need-versus-want/) explains how this list is written and why we will not bundle a want into a need.

## Do you fit tires on trucks, SUVs and electric cars?

Yes. Passenger cars, crossovers, SUVs, pickups, work vans, hybrids and electric vehicles all come through the tire bay. Each type has its own rules: light-truck tires carry load ranges, AWD vehicles need matched tread depth, and EVs are heavy and quick, so they need tires with the right load rating and often a quieter tread.

- **Pickups and work vans:** load range matters more than looks. If you tow or haul, tell us so the tire and the pressure match the job.
- **AWD crossovers and SUVs:** replacing one tire can mean replacing more, or shaving a new tire to match. The allowable tread depth spread between tires is usually only a couple of 32nds of an inch, and your vehicle maker sets the exact figure.
- **Hybrids and EVs:** tires, alignment and TPMS work the same way as any car. High-voltage system repairs go to a specialist, and we tell you that up front.
- **Lifted or modified trucks:** bigger tires change speedometer readings, clearance and load. We check fitment before we mount anything.

See [EV and hybrid care](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/services/hybrid-emerging-vehicle-care/) for what we handle on those vehicles beyond tires.

## Can you handle tires and other repairs in the same visit?

Often, yes. Because the shop does full mechanical repair, the tech who spots a torn CV boot or worn brake pads while your wheels are off can write it up on the same estimate. You decide what gets done. If you are also moving, the U-Haul counter is on the same lot, so tires and a truck rental can happen on one trip.

Tire work often uncovers related items:

- Brake pad and rotor wear, visible once the wheel is off. See [brake service](https://goodyearelitetireupland.com/services/brake-service/).
- Worn shocks or struts behind cupped tires.
- Wheel bearing noise that sounds like tire hum.
- Tie rod or ball joint play found during an alignment check.

None of these are added without your approval. They show up as photos and separate lines, marked need or want. Hours are Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. For Saturday, call (909) 608-7699 to confirm. Sunday is closed.

## Needed now versus can wait

### Needed now
- Tread at or below 2/32 inch, or cords showing
- Sidewall bulge, cut or puncture
- TPMS light on with a tire that looks low
- Vibration or clicking right after a wheel was installed

### Can wait
- Rotation a little past due
- Even tread wear with some depth left
- Spare tire needs air or is getting old
- Upgrading to a quieter or longer-wearing tire

## Our process

1. **Listen:** You describe the pull, shake, light or puncture in your own words.
2. **Inspect:** Tread read in 32nds, cold pressure checked against the door placard, date codes read, wear pattern noted on all four tires.
3. **Show and estimate:** Photos plus a written estimate with needs and wants marked separately.
4. **Approve:** You say yes to what you want done. Nothing is added without asking.
5. **Fit and check:** Mount, balance, TPMS check, torque, and a road check when the job calls for it.
6. **Walk through:** We show the finished work and the invoice matches the estimate.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can you put new tires on my car today?

Often, when your size is in stock and a bay is open. Call (909) 608-7699 with the size printed on your sidewall and we check stock before you drive over. If we need to order, we tell you when the tires should arrive and book the install then.

### Do you sell Goodyear tires?

Yes. Goodyear is the core of the lineup, including Assurance, Wrangler and Eagle families. We match the tire to your size, load index, speed rating and driving, and we will show other options when they fit your needs or budget better.

### Should I get an alignment when I buy new tires?

It is a good idea, and we check it with every set. An alignment sets the angles so new tires wear evenly from day one. If the check shows the car is within spec, we tell you and you can skip the adjustment.

### Can you patch my flat or do I need a new tire?

Industry repair standards allow a puncture up to 1/4 inch, or 6 mm, in the tread crown only. Shoulder and sidewall damage cannot be safely repaired, and neither can a tire that was driven flat. We take the tire off the wheel and inspect the inside before deciding, then repair it with a patch-plug from the inside.

### Do you work on Teslas and other electric cars?

Yes, for tires, alignment, TPMS, brakes, the 12-volt battery and suspension. EVs are heavy and need tires with the right load rating. Repairs to high-voltage parts go to a specialist, and we tell you that before any work starts.

### Is this the same lot where I rent a U-Haul?

Yes. The tire and repair shop and the U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer share 1775 W Foothill Blvd. Call (909) 608-7699 to reserve a truck or trailer, and ask about tire work on the same trip.
