## What if your compact car has no spare tire?

Plenty of newer compacts and coupes leave the factory with an inflator kit or run-flat tires instead of a spare. That saves weight and trunk space, but it changes what you can do on the shoulder. Find out which setup you have now, in the driveway, rather than at night on the 10.

**Know your setup:**

- **Inflator kit:** a small compressor and a bottle of sealant. It can handle a nail hole in the tread. It will not fix a sidewall cut or a blowout.
- **Run-flat tires:** built to keep rolling for a limited distance at reduced speed after losing air. Your manual lists the limits for your car.
- **Compact spare:** a temporary tire with its own speed and distance limits, usually printed on the wheel or the tire.

**After any flat:**

1. Tell us if you used sealant, so the technician can clean the wheel and the pressure sensor properly.
2. Have the tire inspected from the inside before anyone decides on a repair.
3. Check the date on the sealant bottle and replace it if it has expired.

### Can you fix a bubble in my low-profile tire?

No. A sidewall bubble means the internal cords are broken, and no patch or plug can restore that strength. The tire needs to be replaced. We also check the wheel for bends, since the same impact that caused the bubble can damage the rim.

### Why can I not rotate the tires on my coupe?
